Orca Adventure Lodge, located in beautiful Cordova, was built in the 1880s and originally used as a cannery. It has recently been rebuilt into one of Alaska's finest adventure vacation destinations. While retaining its historical flavor, Orca Lodge has full amenities to offer the most discerning guest. Each of the thirty four rooms have great views of Prince William Sound. For meals, the chef and crew cook up delectable delights in the cannery cookhouse next door.


With glacier-carved Chugach mountains, wildlife-rich wetlands, lush forests, and countless waterways surrounding the area, Cordova offers exciting opportunities for wildlife photography, boating, fishing, flight seeing, and more. At Orca Adventure Lodge you will have use of all lodge equipment such as kayaks and mountain bikes, or choose from several optional guided activities from the lodge such as fishing or fly-out adventures into the wilds of Alaska. The lodge is perfect for families and small groups looking for the real Alaskan adventure tour.

Anchorage to Cordova
Anchorage to Cordova Today depart Anchorage aboard a scheduled flight to Cordova (flight departure from Anchorage typically is in the afternoon). After an approx. 1 hour flight arrive in Cordova. Upon arrival, you will be met by a guide and a transfer to the Orca Adventure Lodge will be provided. After a brief orientation, the rest of the day is free to enjoy unguided activities including kayaking, canoeing, or mountain biking. A variety of hiking trails are accessible from the lodge and provide the opportunity to watch for bald eagles and sea otters. Overnight at the Lodge. (Dinner included)

Copper River Delta Tour and Hike
Copper River Delta Tour and Hike Today take the opportunity and book one of the offered excursions (additional cost). This is a great area of Alaska. its not crowded and there are amazing sceneries to discover. Possible activities / excursions are for example: Coastal Bear Viewing Photo Adventure, Guided Glacier Hike, Child Glacier Tour, Fishing charter, or take a kayaking or boat trip. Overnight at the Lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included)

Cordova to Anchorage
Cordova to Anchorage Today you fly back to Anchorage. The flight typically is in the early afternoon. Depending on the flight departure time you have more time to spend at Orca Adventure Lodge. Transfer to the Cordova airport is provided. Scheduled flight to Anchorage.

Copper River Delta Tour and Hike from Orca Adventure Lodge 
  The 36 mile Copper River Highway, only accessible via Cordova, is a wonderland of scenic vistas and viewable wildlife. The Sheridan Glacier, while visible from the road, is explored on this tour with a short hike on a well maintained cobbled trail, surrounded by alders & wildflowers. On the Copper Delta Hike & Tour you will experience one of the many, well groomed Forest Service Trails, providing 38 miles of hiking opportunities, each offering a different experience of plants, animals, and terrain while giving a glimpse of the spectacular coastal rainforest. Smell wildflowers, taste wild berries, hear the sounds of soaring majestic Bald Eagles calling above a forested canopy, see Trumpeter Swans nesting along the road, or catch a glimpse of bear and moose. Watch wild salmon spawning as you get absorbed into this beautiful wilderness.
Departure is from the Orca Adventure Lodge with an interpretive tour of the Copper River Delta and a guided hike option.

Full Day Fishing Charter from Orca Adventure Lodge 
 

Fishing trips based out of Orca Adventure Lodge offer a great variety. Offered are daily departures for both deep sea and stream fishing destinations via boat. Fishing trips include salmon filled streams within the Orca Inlet area as well as fishing the shallow waters for halibut. While these fish are typically smaller than their gulf cousins, the fun of catching fish within a few miles of the lodge cannot be beat!

Summer fishing trips see the greatest variety of fish with incredible numbers of fish returning to the 40 rivers fished. From mid August the trips concentrade on the returning Silver Salmon. Saltwater fishing expeditions focus on halibut, salmon and rockfish.

Tour includes experienced local guide, fishing gear, lunch, and fish processing. Not included are fishing license and king stamp.

  Your flight will take you over fantastic terrain to either a remote lake or river. Opportunities for either salmon or trout fishing are available.

Guided Wildlife & Coastal Bear Photo Adventure from Orca Adventure Lodge 
  Stalk the magnificent Alaskan Brown Bear on these exciting bear photography trips. These trips are unique even to Alaskans. Trips are offered in two distinct bear habitats, the forested salmon streams and the coastal grasslands of the Gulf Coast. In addition to the bears, the maritime trip features Sea Otters, Stellar Sea Lions, Salmon Sharks and a variety of bird life. Tour includes: Transportation via boat or plane, experienced bear guide and lunch.

Guided Kayak Tour from Orca Adventure Lodge 
  Prince William Sound has the best Alaska kayaking and the greatest diversity of wildlife habitat along the entire Northern Pacific Coast; and it is right outside your door! The protected waters of the Orca Inlet offer safe, scenic passage for both beginners and experienced kayakers. The activity level is moderate.
Tour includes: kayaking equipment, basic introduction for beginners and guide.

Guided Sheridan Glacier Hike from Orca Adventure Lodge 
  The Sheridan Glacier, only 15 miles from Orca Adventure Lodge, is one of the most accessible glaciers in the State of Alaska, and yet is rarely explored. A short hike through a spruce-hemlock forest and you are presented with a commanding view of the Sheridan and Sherman Glaciers. Following a cobbled trail, surrounded by alders and wildflowers, you soon arrive at the icy face. Hike through the moraine and you find yourself standing upon the ancient ice of this majestic glacier. The terrain before you is an ever changing topography of glacial lakes, crystal blue caves and sudden jagged crevasses. Boots and crampons are provided by your experienced guide.

  • Booking requirements: we require following information for each traveler at time of reservation: Full name including middle name(s), gender, and date of birth.

  • Pre/Post nights: This program requires pre and post nights in Anchorage. Flights depend on availability at time of booking and may be different as listed in the itinerary.   

  • Clothing: Good rain gear and warm clothes are a must for this region, even in the summer.

  • Fishing: Fishing trips during June/July see the greatest variety of fish with incredible numbers of fish returning to the 40 rivers in the area. In the fall, from mid August on, most fishing trips concentrate on Silver Salmon fishing. The lodge also offers saltwater fishing expeditions for halibut, salmon and rockfish. Fishing the protected waters of Prince William Sound is a pleasurable experience. Fish processing is included with all of guided fishing trips up to 50 lbs/person/day (4 days guided fishing= 200 lbs. max) during your stay. The lodge will fillet and portion the fish based on your preference, vacuum seal, flash freeze, and provide a wax coated box for getting your catch home. For any fish needing processed beyond the 50 lbs/person carries a $2 per filleted pound charge will apply. For most people, 50 lbs is plenty of fish to enjoy and share with friends/family. Though the lodge will take care of processing your catch, shipping your fish home is not included in the fishing trip rates. The easiest way to get your fish home is by taking it as extra checked luggage on your flight back home. The lodge can assist with alternative shipping options (at additional cost).
