Barrow Expedition
A Journey to the Arctic Ocean
Enjoy this small group experience to the northernmost Inupiat
community. What sets this tour apart from the other Barrow tour (Barrow -
Top of the World) are the aircraft used and the
number of guests. On this tour, travel to and from Barrow in a
9-passenger, twin-engine, Piper Chieftain, operated by a
Fairbanks based air charter operator. This smaller plane travels between
5,000 - 10,000 feet and provides everyone with a window and an aisle
seat. While in Barrow, tour by van as you visit the
residential and commercial areas of the community and stop on the
coast of the Arctic Ocean.

Day Tour from Fairbanks - Tour 207
At approx. 10am
you will depart on your flight north across the Arctic Circle to the
ancient Inupiat Eskimo village of Barrow. En route you will stop at the
small Arctic Circle community of Coldfoot. Here you can purchase a packed
lunch from Coldfoot Camp Trucker's Café. After a short break in Coldfoot
you will continue on to Barrow, arriving about 12:30pm. Upon arrival in
Barrow, embark on a sightseeing tour of Barrow, where you will
discover firsthand the lifestyles of Alaska's Arctic Coastal peoples while
traveling thru the residential and commercial areas of this community of
4,000. Stop along the shores of the Arctic Ocean near the northernmost
point on the North American Continent and bravely dip your toe in the
frigid waters of the Arctic Ocean. The end of the tour brings you to the
Inupiat Heritage Center where you can enjoy an Inupiat Eskimo cultural
program of traditional dance, demonstrations of mask making, skin sewing,
and games. You will also have the chance to purchase unique Alaska Native
arts and crafts and meet the local artisans. At approximately 3:45pm, you
will depart Barrow, again making a short stop in Coldfoot. You will arrive
in Fairbanks between 6:30pm - 7:30pm.

WEATHER ALTERATIONS AND THE BARROW EXPEDITION:
Weather in Alaska's Arctic can and does
affect flying conditions. Weather may require
alteration of a portion or all of the scheduled
tour itinerary. Due to the variable conditions
on the Arctic Coast, the Barrow Expedition
includes a built-in weather alternate. If
current or forecast weather conditions do not
allow a landing at Barrow, you will visit
another village, Anaktuvuk Pass. If weather does
not allow a land at Barrow or Anaktuvuk Pass,
you will visit the communities of Coldfoot &
Wiseman. The price differentiation follows:
Anaktuvuk Pass (same as the
Native Village
Adventure or Arctic Circle Anaktuvuk Pass
Adventure) --- $399 / person (refund of $200
per person) or $429 / person (refund of $170 per
person)
Coldfoot/Wiseman (same as the
Arctic Circle
Adventure with roundtrip flights) --- $319 /
person (refund of $280 per person)
It is
very important that guests understand these
alternatives and are aware that these are
built-in to the experience. If the above
mentioned alternative scenario is not consistent
with what one is looking for in a tour
experience, the Barrow Expedition is NOT the
appropriate choice.
Should weather require an overnight stay, guests
are responsible for cost of accommodations.
LUGGAGE RESTRICTIONS: 5 - 10 pounds per
person. All luggage you bring with you will be
weighed as part of the check in process. This
includes purses, camera bags, and day packs.
Luggage over 10 pounds is subject to excess
freight charges.
MEALS: are
NOT included but can be purchased en route.
