3 days / 2 nights
Day
1: On arrival in Skagway, pick up
your rental car and take some time to get
familiar with this unique Alaska
town before reaching your final destination
of Dyea.
The
old Gold Rush town site of Dyea boasted a
bustling population of more than 10,000
during the gold rush; today it is a ghost
town, with one significant exception. Your
accommodations will be at the Chilkoot Trail
Outpost, located near the Chilkoot
trailhead. The Outpost is a family-run
countryside retreat which offers deluxe
hand-crafted cabins with private bath
facilities. All cabins are equipped with
microwave, refrigerator and coffeemaker. A
light breakfast is included with your stay,
as well as one gourmet picnic meal featuring
barbequed fish and chicken or steak.
Overnight Chilkoot Trail Outpost.
Day 2:
Spend the next days exploring Dyea, Skagway, and the
Chilkoot Trail. The
natural beauty of the property offers hiking trails,
picnic grounds, natural springs and a waterfall. The historic Chilkoot Trail is the "Gateway to the
Klondike."
It was the Klondike Gold Rush of
1896-99 that transformed the Chilkoot Trail into a
legend.
A fantastic day hike from your
cabin is a 5 mile trek, first up the “Golden
Stairway” where you gain about 500 feet of
elevation, and then onto “Finnigans Point.”
It
takes a little over 2 hours to reach Finnegan's
Camp. The trail climbs up and down over a couple of
bluffs above the Taiya
River, but
generally is quite level. You can also visit the
site of the Gold Rush town of Dyea, where you will
hardly find any remnants of the former boom town.
After a day of hiking, bicycling or sightseeing,
enjoy a quiet and relaxing evening roasting s'mores
over an onsite open campfire pit. You are also
free to use the adjacent gazebo equipped with a
commercial BBQ, dining area, and hot and cold
running water.
Overnight Chilkoot Trail Outpost.
Day 3:
After breakfast, return the rental car in
Skagway, or perhaps continue your vacation
with a visit to Glacier Bay National Park
and Denali National Park

Two days rental car and two night deluxe cabin
accommodation including breakfast. All taxes.
