In Denali National Park watch out for wildlife
including bears, moose and caribou and with some
luck you may see the gigantic peak of North
America's tallest mountain, Mt. McKinley. Then
continue to travel south, see Alyeska Resort and
Portage Glacier before the guided land tour ends
in Seward.
Your experienced
guide will help make your trip smooth and
enjoyable as you tour the highlights of Alaska's
interior by train and coach.
From Seward start
an amazing Alaska Inside Passage cruise board a
deluxe Holland America cruise ship. On your
cruise you will sail along beautiful Alaska
coastline and visit Glacier Bay National Park.
Watch out for wildlife such as sea lions,
puffins and even whales.

Tour 198 Itinerary: 14 days / 13 nights
Day 1: Fairbanks
Arrival
Arrive into Fairbanks on your own. Transfer from
the airport by shuttle. After meeting your Tour
Leader, you may have time for optional
activities, such as a tour over the Arctic
Circle (not included).
Overnight in Fairbanks.
Day 2: Fairbanks to Denali by Dome Rail
Today depart at
8:15am to Denali aboard the McKinley Explorer
Dome Rail cars, arriving at 12:15pm. This
afternoon, we suggest taking time to see the
Denali National Park Visitor Center, which
offers many exhibits and information about the
park. Or enjoy one of the optional tours such as
river rafting, a Jeep safari, or flight-seeing
(not included).

Day 3: Denali National Park Bus Tour
Early this morning
(between 5:30am and 7am), depart on a bus tour
of Denali National Park. This 6 to 8 hour tour
takes you approximately 55 miles into the park.
As you travel through the pristine wilderness,
look for wildlife, such as bears, caribou, and
moose, as well as views of Mt. McKinley. A small
box lunch is included onboard. The afternoon is
free for optional tours, such as sightseeing by
bush plane or a dinner theater (not included).

Day 4: Denali to Anchorage by Dome Rail
Sleep in this morning or enjoy a short
excursion before departing. Just after 12 noon,
you will depart for Anchorage on the McKinley
Explorer double-decker, glass-domed rail car.
The train travels south through the
Matanuska-Susitna Valley, making stops in
Talkeetna and Wasilla. Stroll through the train,
visit the dining car, and pick up souvenirs at
the gift shop. Upon arrival in Anchorage this
evening (approx. 8:00pm), transfer to your hotel
by shuttle.

Day 5: Anchorage
to Girdwood – With Portage Glacier
Today you will
enjoy the sights of the Seward Highway and
scenic Turnagain Arm as you travel to the nearby
resort village of Girdwood, nestled in a
picturesque valley surrounded by the Chugach
Mountains and pristine wilderness. Visit the
Begich-Boggs Visitor Center before departing on
a 1-hour cruise to the face of Portage Glacier.
Later, check in at the Hotel Alyeska. Relax and
enjoy the remainder of the day pampering
yourself in the spa, riding the aerial tram up
the mountain, or taking a walk on a nature
trails. The town offers both casual and fine
dining choices.

Day 6: Girdwood
– Free Day
Enjoy a free day in Girdwood. You may decide
to ride the aerial tram up Mt. Alyeska, relax at
the health spa, or hike the Iditarod Trail.
Optional activities include dog sled rides,
glacier hiking, guided rainforest hikes, glacier
cruises, ice climbing, and more (not included).

Day 7: Girdwood
to Seward – Embark on Cruise
Today’s adventure takes you south along
Turnagain Arm onto the Kenai Peninsula. Continue
south through the Kenai Mountains to Seward and
Resurrection Bay. Upon arrival in Seward, bid
farewell to your Tour Leader before boarding
your ship in time for lunch and an afternoon
sail-away.
Overnight on the
cruise ship. All meals are included aboard your
deluxe Holland America cruise ship.
Day 8: Cruising the Gulf of Alaska
Today’s journey
takes you across the Gulf of Alaska as you head
to the Inside Passage area. Watch for wildlife
and enjoy the wide variety of activities
onboard.

cruise ship.
Day 9: Cruising Glacier Bay National Park
Enjoy your day as you cruise through Glacier
Bay National Park and Preserve. Marvel at this
ice-age wonder as you cruise past tide-water
glaciers, snow capped mountains and freshwater
rivers. Keep watch for whales, sea lions, bears,
and puffins, as well as glacier calving (when
chunks of ice fall off the glacier).

Day 10: Haines, AK
Today you will visit the small town of
Haines. Located on the pristine shores of
America's longest fjord, Haines is a unique
blend of arts, culture, history, wildlife and
scenic beauty. While in port, take a tour of a
native Tlingit Village, float through the
Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve (not included in
tour price), or explore the town on your own.
Alternatively, you can take a water taxi to take
you to the nearby Gold Rush town of Skagway (not
included). The ship will be in port from
approximately 6:30am to 9:00pm.

Day 11: Juneau, AK
Today you will visit Alaska's capital city,
Juneau. Located in the Tongass Rainforest, the
area is known for its lush terrain and vibrant
wildflowers. There is something for everyone in
Juneau - shopping, sightseeing, dog sledding on
a glacier, sea kayaking, floatplane tours,
glacier hiking, and more (not included in tour
price). The ship will arrive in Juneau at
approximately 8:00am and depart at approximately
6:00pm.

Day 12:
Ketchikan, AK
Located on
Revillagigedo Island, Ketchikan is known as
Alaska's Native Cultural Center and Sportfishing
Capital. Native art and culture flourish here
due to the large population of Native Alaskans,
represented by the three indigenous tribes: the
Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian. The city is also
home to the largest collection of totem poles in
the world. Spend your time in port shopping,
touring Misty Fjords National Monument by ship
or plane, canoeing in a traditional Native
canoe, or touring the backcountry by jeep (not
included in tour price). The ship will be in
port from approximately 11:00am to 7:00pm.

Day 13: Cruising
the Inside Passage
You will be at sea
the entire day today. Spend time enjoying the
many amenities aboard the ship, such as the
health spa, swimming pool, movie theatre,
casino, tennis and basketball courts, duty-free
shops and library. Relax in the lounge or by the
pool.

Day 14: Arrive
Vancouver
You will awake this morning Vancouver.
Disembarkation begins at 7:00am. If you are
departing today, a transfer is provided to the
airport.
We also recommend you stay another day in this
great metropolitan city of Vancouver. There are
many great attractions that are waiting for you
in Vancouver.
Included:
6-night fully guided land tour from
Fairbanks to Seward: 6 nights

from Fairbanks to Denali and Denali to
Anchorage; motorcoach from Anchorage to

6 to 8-hour Denali National Park bus tour
