The Alaska Bed & Breakfast Tour
Tour 1516CTA

B&Bs offer a great way to get local flavor

For those who have never stayed at a Bed & Breakfast, it is a completely different experience from staying in the typical chain hotel. Each B&B is unique and offers amenities not found in many hotels, such as fresh baked cookies and common areas with board games and books. B&Bs are more than just a place to sleep and eat - they are a home away from home. With comfortable rooms, a homelike atmosphere and personal attention, our carefully selected B&Bs will allow you to experience the true meaning of "Alaskan Hospitality"!

Our Alaska Bed & Breakfast tour program takes you to all the highlights Alaska has to offer. You will overnight in comfortable private rooms in the home of local residents with breakfast included each morning.

11 Days/ 10 Nights

Pick up your rental vehicle at the airport upon your arrival and drive to your B&B accommodation in Anchorage. Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 2:  Anchorage to Seward / 127 miles
Plan
3 hrs drive time, not including stops.

Today you drive to Seward, located on the Kenai Peninsula. On the way to Seward enjoy the scenic drive along Turnagain Arm, one of the most beautiful segments of highway in the country. Also take the opportunity to visit Portage and Exit Glaciers. In the evening you have time for optional activities. Overnight at a B&B in Seward.

Day 3: Seward
Today you enjoy a full day boat cruise into Kenai Fjords National Park, one of Alaska's treasures with abundant wildlife and spectacular glacier scenery. This lush coastal wilderness is home to wildlife such as humpback and orca whales, puffins, and Stellar sea lions! Overnight at a B&B in Seward.

Day 4: Seward to Palmer/Wasilla / 169 miles
Plan 4 hrs drive time, not including stops.
Today you drive back up the Seward Highway and continue on the Glenn Highway north of Anchorage. En route, you may visit the Alaska Native Heritage Center or drive to Hatcher Pass near Palmer, an area with great hiking trails and the Independence Mine State Historical Park, which is an abandoned mine from the 1930s when Hatcher Pass was a busy gold mining area. Overnight at a B&B in the Palmer/Wasilla area.

Day 5: Palmer/Wasilla to Valdez / 258 miles
Plan 5 hrs drive time, not including stops.
You continue on the Glenn & Richardson Highways to Valdez today. Both highways have been awarded Scenic Byway titles. The highlights on today's routes are the Matanuska Glacier and the Matanuska River Valley. When you reach Glennallen you come closer to the impressive mountains of the Wrangell-St Elias National Park, home to several of North America's tallest peaks. Overnight at a B&B  in Valdez.

Day 6: Valdez
Today is a free day to rest and to enjoy the area of Valdez, also called "little Switzerland". The original town was washed away by a Tidal wave causes by the 1964 earthquake in Alaska. Visit the small museum and learn more about the history. We also recommend a guided kayaking or a guided hiking/rafting tour (not included). Overnight at a B&B in Valdez.

Day 7: Valdez to Fairbanks / 368 miles
Plan 7 hours driving time, not including stops.
Today you will travel the Richardson Highway back north toward Glennallen, passing by beautiful forest and lake scenery. At Delta Junction, the road becomes the Alaska Highway, which takes you to Fairbanks. Overnight at a B&B in Fairbanks.

Day 8: Fairbanks to Healy/Denali / 125 miles
Plan 2.5 hours driving time, not including stops.
This morning you have time to explore Fairbanks. Optional excursions include a sightseeing tour, a river boat cruise on an historic sternwheeler or a tour of the El Dorado Gold Mine (not included). Later today you will take a short drive to the park entrance area of Denali National Park. Overnight in Healy, just north of the Denali National Park entrance.

Day 9:  Denali National Park / Healy
Today a 6-8 hour bus tour into Denali National Park is included. The park is home to North America’s tallest mountain, Mt. McKinley, as well as to many different wild animals such as bears, caribou, moose, dall sheep and more. On the bus tour you will travel approx 55 miles into the park and search for animals in the tundra landscape. You might even have the chance to see the impressive peak of Mt. McKinley (weather providing)! A snack is included. The rest of the afternoon and evening is at your leisure. Overnight in Healy, just north of the Denali Park entrance.

Day 10:  Healy/Denali to Anchorage / 237 miles

For additional car rental days please click here!

You can customize the B&B Tour, however there is a 7 night minimum required. The B&B Pass is not available without a car. B&B locations in Alaska are: Anchorage, Fairbanks, Girdwood, Healy (Denali National Park), Homer, Palmer/Wasilla, Seward, Skagway, Tok and Valdez.  If your route leads through a non-B&B location (such as Glennallen) but where an overnight is recommended, we can accommodate you at a motel/hotel which may not offer complementary breakfast. Generally speaking, if we book a hotel/motel breakfast is not included.

B&B Tour confirmations: Reservations are usually confirmed within 8 working days.

Room occupancy & bed configuration: The B&B Tour is sold on a single or double share room basis (triple or quad rooms not available)!  Please note that most B&B's in Alaska only offer one bed per room.

Room with private bath? We will do the our best to reserve a room with a private bath for you. However, please note that some B&B's only have rooms with shared baths available. Please be prepared to share a bathroom with guests of another room!

Availability at B&B's can be limited. We recommend you book this program early. If we have to make alternative arrangements and cannot accommodate you at a B&B, we will book a hotel/motel for you. We will do the best to also include breakfast, yet generally speaking, if we book a hotel/motel breakfast is not included.

Pets: Most B&B houses we include in our Bed & Breakfast tour have no pets living in their houses, yet it can be that a cat or a dog is allowed in the house but not in the guest rooms. To make your stay the most comfortable, please inform us at time of booking if you are allergic to dogs or/and cats or if you prefer to stay at a home without pets.
