Known
by many as the "the Great Land",
Alaska constitutes a virtual
subcontinent with seventeen
national parks. A visit to any
of these parks offers the
opportunity to see wildlife,
experience seemingly endless
wilderness, and to learn about
Alaska's natural and cultural
history.
Our Alaska's
National Park Tour takes you
into the heart of 5 of Alaska's
most fascinating national parks,
all of which provide unique
experiences to some of the most
remote and wild lands left on
earth! Enjoy scenic drives along
the Seward Highway to
visit Kenai Fjords National Park
and the Glenn Highway to
Wrangell St. Elias National
Park. Cross the Arctic Circle
and fly to Gates of the Arctic
National Park to learn about the
unique lifestyle of the last
remaining settlement of the
Nunamiut (inland northern
Inupiat Eskimo). Travel
on the
Alaska Railroad to Denali
National Park and the remote
Kantishna area. View bears in
their natural habitat at Katmai
National Park, famous for Brooks
Falls.
Day 1: Arrival Anchorage
Upon
arrival in Anchorage, transfer
via hotel courtesy shuttle or
taxi to your hotel. Depending on
when you arrive, you may have
time for an optional excursion,
such as
flightseeing
(not included). Overnight in

Day 2: Anchorage
Today is yours to recover from
your flight and explore Alaska's
largest city. Pick up your
rental car at your leisure from

Day 3: Anchorage to Seward /
127 miles

along scenic Cook Inlet and
Turnagain Arm. Few roads in the
United States can offer the
diversity of scenic landscapes
and unique natural features so
concentrated in one area.
Wildflowers and waterfalls
brighten every corner of the
road as it glides below rough
mountains that pierce thick,
heavy clouds. Recommended stops
along the route include the

the Alaska Wildlife Conservation
Center. Just before you reach
Seward, you have a chance to
visit Exit Glacier. This is one
of the few glaciers that
visitor's can walk to.
Overnight in Seward.
Day 4: Kenai Fjords National
Park Cruise
At
11:45am, depart on a
full-day cruise into Kenai
Fjords National Park, one of
Alaska's treasures. As you
cruise through the park and
the Chiswell Islands
National Wildlife Refuge,
watch for Stellar sea lions,
harbor seals, puffins,
eagles and even whales.
During the cruise, you will
see examples of Alpine,
Cirque, Piedmont and
Tidewater glaciers. A stop
will be made at either
Holgate or Aialik Glacier to
witness glacier calving -
when large ice chunks fall
off the glacier. Enjoy an
all-you-can-eat salmon and
prime rib buffet on-board.
Overnight in
Seward.
Day 5: Seward to
Glennallen/Copper Center /
304 miles
Plan 6 hours driving time,
not including stops.
Today you will travel back
up the Seward Highway,
through the lush Matanuska
Valley, an onto the
breathtaking Glenn Highway.
This is one of the oldest
and most scenic highways in
Alaska. The Glenn, as it is
known by locals, follows the
Matanuska River up to its
beginning at the Matanuska
Glacier. Along the way,
there are opportunities for
guided
river rafting (not included). This is a
perfect day to plan a
picnic! Overnight in Sheep
Mountain or Glennallen /
Copper Center Area.
Day 6: Glennallen/Copper
Center to Wrangell-St. Elias
National Park / 68 miles
Plan 1.5 hours driving time,
not including stops, plus 30
minute flight from Chitina
to McCarthy.
Start the day with a short
drive to the small town of
Chitina, where you will
leave your rental car and
board a bush plane for the
scenic flight into
Wrangell-St. Elias National
Park. At 13.2 million acres,
Wrangell-St. Elias is the
largest national park in the
United States and equivalent
in size to the country of
Switzerland! This tremendous
park includes four mountain
ranges, nine of the
country's 16 highest peaks,
and extensive ice
fields. Overnight at the
Kennicott Glacier Lodge.
Day 7: Kennicott /
Wrangell St. Elias National
Park
Take a step back in time
today on a 2.5 hour
historical tour of
Kennicott. Your guide will
take you inside the 14 story
Mill Building of the
Kennecott Copper
Corporation, which was built
in the early 1900s. Catch a
glimpse of what it was like
to live and work in this
remote wilderness, while
hearing tales of lucky
fortunes, tenacious
frontiersmen, and tragic
endings. This afternoon, you
have plenty of time for an optional
guided
glacier hike (not
included). Overnight at the
Kennicott Glacier Lodge.
Day 8: Kennicott / Wrangell St.
Elias National Park to Fairbanks
/ 313 miles
30 minute flight from McCarthy
to Chitina, plus 6 hours driving
time, not including stops.
Return to Chitina by plane this
morning. Your drive continues on
the Richardson Highway, Alaska's
oldest highway which began in
1898 as a gold rush trail to
Eagle. This route follows the
Alaska oil pipeline, one of the
world's greatest engineering
feats. Along the way, there are
several rest stops, including
historic roadhouses and scenic
viewpoints. This evening,
explore the historic gold mining
town of Fairbanks, also known as
Alaska's "Gateway to the
Arctic." Return
your rental car tonight. Overnight in Fairbanks.
Day 9: Dalton Highway, Gates
of the Arctic Nat’l Park &

mountains in North America. The

of the Arctic National Park at
the Nunamiut Eskimo village of
Anaktuvuk Pass, nearly 100 miles
north of the Arctic Circle.
Visit the village and learn
about the culture and lifestyle
of the local people. After your
