Tour 1508

This 10-night itinerary is designed to give you a link between Anchorage (Alaska's major air gateway) and the Inside Passage cruise port of Skagway. The 'Stampeder' one-way self drive gets you off the busy tourist routes and into the real backcountry of Alaska and Canada's Yukon Territory. This tour combines the whales of Glacier Bay and the brown bears of Admiralty Island with a self-drive tour. The itinerary allows you to depart any day in the summer and also allows you to add extension tours. This itinerary is also available in REVERSE direction Skagway to Anchorage. Eleven days / ten nights
Day 01	Arrival in Anchorage. Accommodation is reserved in downtown Anchorage.
Day 02	Anchorage - Talkeetna. Scenic drive through Palmer and Alaska's agricultural region. Overnight Talkeetna.
Day 03	Talkeetna - Denali. The Parks highway parallels the mighty Susitna river. Overnight Denali.
Day 04	Denali Park; Enjoy a guided wildlife tour takes you to the habitat of bears, wolves and moose. Overnight Denali.
Day 05	Denali - Fairbanks. Nenana, visited en route is a historic river and railroad community. Overnight Fairbanks.
Day 06	Fairbanks; explore Fairbanks or local hot springs. Arctic sightseeing excursion available. Overnight Fairbanks.
Day 07	Fairbanks - Tok. Panoramic views of tall snow capped peaks in Alaska Range. Overnight Tok.
Day 08	Tok - Dawson City. Canada's "Top of the World" Highway, northern frontier border crossing. Overnight Dawson City.
Day 09	Dawson; discover the local gold rush history, boat trips, acclaimed museum and Palace Theatre. Overnight Dawson City.
Day 10	Dawson - Whitehorse. Over half million square kilometers of wilderness and freedom to explore. Overnight Whitehorse.
Day 11	Whitehorse - Skagway. Drive over famous White Pass Summit. Return car in Skagway.  Continue you vacation aboard the Alaska Marine Highway ferry touring the Inside Passage, visit Juneau or perhaps tour  Glacier Bay National Park with its spectacular whale and glacier viewing cruises.

Car drop-off is also available in Haines and Fairbanks. Ask for revised routings. Possible holiday extensions include Glacier Bay National Park, Arctic Circle excursion from Fairbanks, trail riding and trekking with husky dogs from Whitehorse, Alaska Ferry to Prince Rupert or Bellingham. This itinerary also works in reverse from Skagway to Anchorage (or Fairbanks).

NOTE:  Canadian residents cannot rent a U.S. registered car and drive into Canada from Alaska.
