The adventure at Gold Dredge 8 begins with a ride on a replica of the
Tanana Valley Railroad through the gold fields of Interior Alaska. Before you
board our train, enjoy a close up view of the TransAlaska pipeline and
informational displays about the pipeline. Once aboard the train our conductor
and commentators provide lively commentary about the history of mining in
Alaska. The train ride takes you to the dredge where you will see first hand how
the dredge worked the gold fields. Once the train arrives at the camp, you will
receive a brief but informative course in mining, and then you will try panning
for yourself! You will find gold- we guarantee it! After you find your gold,
explore the dredge and feel the history come alive. This tour is interesting and
entertaining for the whole family.
