Day 1 (Thursday): Arrive Anchorage

Transfer provided to the hotel. The remainder of the day is free to explore Alaska's largest city or just relax. Overnight Anchorage.

 

Day 2 (Friday): Anchorage – Talkeetna
You’ll transfer to the rail depot this morning. Then travel aboard the luxurious glass-domed railcars of the McKinley Explorer as we journey to Talkeetna, an eclectic town at the junction of three rivers, where nature trails and optional activities abound. Enjoy breakfast aboard the McKinley Explorer with your group in our comfortable dining area, while the landscape unfolds before you. You’ll stay at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge, featuring quite possibly the most awesome view of Mt. McKinley in the state. The afternoon is at your leisure for optional activities such as flight seeing, fishing and river tours (not included). Overnight Talkeetna. (B)

 

Day 3 (Saturday): Talkeetna – Denali
You’ll already be swapping stories with your new friends over breakfast this morning. Then get a different perspective along the base of the spectacular Alaska Range as you re-board the McKinley Explorer to Denali National Park. Tonight you’ll be regaled with a sumptuous dinner and homespun entertainment at Cabin Nite Dinner Theater. Overnight Denali. (B, D)

 

Day 4 (Sunday):  Denali National Park

Enjoy an early breakfast with your group before your morning tour (departs between 5:30am and 7:30am). Travel deep into Denali National Park on the Tundra Wilderness Tour and search the pristine wilderness for bear, moose, caribou, and sheep. Weather permitting, Mt. McKinley may be visible in its breathtaking splendor. This tour is approximately eight hours and includes a snack box and hot beverages. This afternoon is free for optional activities in Denali, such as rafting, flight seeing, or helicopter tours (not included). Overnight Denali. (B, SL)

 

Day 5 (Monday): Denali to Girdwood/Alyeska Resort

Today, travel south by luxury motor coach to Portage Lake for an unforgettable cruise aboard the MV Ptarmigan. Your ship's captain will take you within 300 yards of Portage Glacier. After the cruise, travel to the resort village of Girdwood, where you will enjoy the beautiful mountain surroundings and the Alyeska Resort. Overnight Girdwood. (B)

 

Day 6 (Tuesday): Girdwood to SewardCruise Kenai Fjords National Park to see glaciers and wildlife

After breakfast, travel by motor coach to Seward for an exciting cruise through the dramatic Kenai Fjords National Park. Enjoy lunch on board while watching for whales, sea lions, porpoises, sea otters and the many bird species inhabiting the cliffs along rocky shore. Overnight Seward. (B, L)
 

Day 7 (Wednesday): Seward to Anchorage

Explore the town of Seward or visit the Alaska SeaLife Center (admission not included) before returning to Anchorage. In the afternoon, tour Alaska's largest city, including the Alaska Native Heritage Center where you can experience Alaska's many diverse Native cultures, past and present. This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner at the Sourdough Mining Company. Overnight Anchorage. (B, D)

 

Day 8 (Thursday): Anchorage Departure

Extend your Alaska vacation with an independent optional tour such as bear viewing or an excursion into Alaska's Arctic (not included). For those departing Anchorage, a transfer is provided from the hotel to the airport.

7 nights accommodation; baggage handling; transportation via full-size coach; domed rail service Anchorage to Denali; knowledgeable English-speaking guide; Tundra Wilderness Tour in Denali, Portage Glacier cruise, Kenai Fjords National Park cruise in Seward, and Anchorage sightseeing including the Alaska Native Heritage Center;  6 breakfasts (B), 1 snack lunch (SL), 1 lunch (L) and 2 dinners.  All taxes and fees.
