Begin your tour with a short floatplane flight from Ketchikan to Traitor's Cove, where you will have the chance to view black bears in their natural habitat. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the viewing area at the Margaret Creek Fish Ladder (1 mile drive plus short walk on a boardwalk trail). This legendary fish ladder is one of the busiest aquatic thoroughfares around during the summer months. As countless salmon thunder upstream they attract the local black bears. Your knowledgeable guide will be with you throughout the tour to answer questions about the area's plant life, history, and wildlife. (Tour departs from the main Visitor Center near the cruise ship docks)
