Orca Beach Rainforest Adventure Tour from Ketchikan

Start this tour with an exciting cruise along the shoreline in a motorized inflatable boat. Various sea mammals, bald eagles, and migrating seabirds may be spotted so don't forget your camera and binoculars! Upon reaching Orca Beach, you will join an experienced Alaskan trail guide for an guided hike through the unspoiled beauty of the coastal rainforest. The trail takes you through a beautiful old growth forest by way of a secluded beach. The trail is mostly boardwalk, about 1-mile in length and well maintained. After your hike, enjoy a light snack and take some time to explore the intertidal zone to look for sea stars, shells, sea urchins, and crabs. Children have to be at least 5 years old or weigh at least 40 pounds in order to participate in the this tour.

Rainforest Canoe Adventure Tour from Ketchikan

This adventure begins with a scenic motorcoach tour to a secluded mountain lake, where you will board Indian-style 37-foot, 20-passenger canoes which are stable and easy to maneuver. Paddle with an experienced guide, scan the shore for wildlife, and learn the unique natural and cultural history of the Ketchikan area. The lake, part of a lush rain forest, is ideal for canoeing and is surrounded by the Tongass National Forest. Step ashore for an Alaska-style snack. Your guide will lead a short nature walk highlighting the flora and fauna of the rain forest, including such features as carnivorous plants and the official state tree. Paddle back to the across the lake and re-board your motorcoach for your return trip. Children have to be at least 5 years old or weigh at least 40 pounds in order to participate in the this tour.

Bering Sea Crab Fishermen's Tour from Ketchikan

Explore the waters of Southeast Alaska aboard the Aleutian Ballad, an authentic commercial crabbing vessel, made famous by the show “Deadliest Catch”. Learn about the vessel and its colorful history while you cruise to the fishing grounds. Once there, watch the crew as they haul out Bering Sea king crab pots, each weighing over 700 pounds. Dungeness crab, box crab, octopus and prawns, will be carefully retrieved and placed in a live tank for you to see, touch and photograph; you may even get to hold a King Crab! This boat cruise to the heart of the 3,570-square-mile Monument provides an opportunity to view Misty Fjords from a dramatic perspective. A naturalist will provide in-depth commentary on the area as you cruise past a mysterious Native pictograph, Punchbowl Cove with its columnar basalt formations and the colorful Mossy Wall bird rookery. Enjoy the dramatic landmark New Eddystone Rock, an ancient volcanic plug that juts up 237 feet from the water. Watch for mountain goats, bears, eagles, Guillemots and other seabirds. Traitors Cove Bear Viewing Tour from Ketchikan

Begin your tour with a short floatplane flight from Ketchikan to Traitor's Cove, where you will have the chance to view black bears in their natural habitat.
