Begin this great sea kayaking adventure by suiting up in quality raingear
and lifejackets before transferring to a floating kayak base camp by motorized
inflatable raft. The short and invigorating journey on these fully licensed
vessels takes you past Sitka and the surrounding mountains. Upon arrival at the
base camp, you'll be instructed in the use of stable, oceangoing, two-person
kayaks. Groups of four to six kayaks will be led by an experienced guide, well
versed in paddling techniques and the marine environment of the area. Each of
the waterways traveled offers unique attractions, be it colorful inter-tidal
invertebrates, an eagle swooping from the tree tops, or the grandeur of the lush
rainforest. You may even see a brown bear, harbor seal, or Sitka black-tailed
deer. This tour is suitable for novices and includes 1.5 hours
paddling.
