This glacier and wildlife cruise through Prince William Sound features a
visit to Columbia Glacier. Onboard you will have a chance to view the Sound's
wildlife, including sea lions, sea otters, and whales. You will learn about the
mining, oil shipping, earthquake, and fishing history, and you will hear stories
about the first people to explore and live in the area. This tour includes a
description of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline Terminal as you sail past. Because the
Columbia Glacier is the fastest moving glacier in Alaska, it releases tons of
ice daily into the ocean. Typically your ship will not be able to navigate to
the face of the glacier. Instead, you will cruise along the terminal moraine
around massive icebergs. A light meal is served onboard (included). The tour
travels 80-miles round-trip. (Tour departs from the small boat
harbor).
