Tour 196: Glacier Bay Package
Glacier Bay National Park

Located on the northwest end of Alexander Archipelago in southeastern Alaska, Glacier Bay is one of Alaska's treasures. In 1925, Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve was designated a national monument to preserve the glacial environment and plant communities for public enjoyment and scientific study. It became a National Park in 1980, an UNESCO International Biosphere Reserve in 1986 and in 1992 was listed as a World Heritage Site.

There are two privately run inns located in Gustavus, gateway to Glacier Bay national Park: the Gustavus Inn and the Bear Tracks Inn. An historic homestead from 1928, the Gustavus Inn is operated by the Lesh family, who invite visitors to share their home for adventures in Glacier Bay and Icy Strait. The Inn offers comfortable new guest rooms with queen or twin beds and private bath.

The Bear Track Inn is a truly unique two-story log building with 14 guest rooms, each with private bath and two queen beds. The central sitting area, with its massive fire place stretching 30 feet from floor to ceiling, is the focal point of the Inn. From here, visitors enjoy inspiring panoramic views of mountains, forests and lush meadows.
