Welcome
to the Kantishna
Roadhouse, a
full-service lodge
located deep in the
heart of Alaska's
majestic Denali National
Park & Preserve.
We invite you to spend
your Alaskan vacation
viewing Denali National
Park’s wildlife and
breathtaking wilderness
while relaxing in this
beautiful lodge. The
Kantishna Roadhouse
features deluxe rustic
cabin accommodations,
all meals and snacks
during your stay,
abundant daily guided
(and self-guided)
activities and tours,
and hosted evening
naturalist programs. The
lodge grounds also boast
ample space to find both
solitude and adventure.
The Kantishna Roadhouse
has a longstanding
Alaskan tradition of
hospitality. The
original roadhouse was
built in the early
1900s, serving as a
private residence, a
community center, a post
office, and informal
accommodations for those
who came visiting
Kantishna in Denali
Park. Many nights were
spent spinning tales of
the Alaskan trail over a
hot cup of coffee and a
hearty meal. You can
still see the old log
structure and other
remnants of the past at
the back of the
property.
Today, talk of the trail
continues, but in more
modern and comfortable
surroundings. You will
experience the
“trail,” the Denali Park
Road, on your way to and
from the lodge. During
your six-hour bus tour
through 95 miles of
wilderness,
your naturalist
driver/guide will help
you search for bears,
caribou, Dall sheep,
wolves, and moose while
explaining the geologic
history of the park.
Through years of hard
work, Kantishna
Roadhouse has evolved
from a gold miner's tent
camp into a modern
Alaskan resort with a
rustic flavor. The
antique mining equipment
and design of the main
lodge give character to
the roadhouse. The log
cabins have two or four
guest rooms per
building, each with two
beds and a private
bathroom. Two rooms are
handicapped accessible
(one king bed). The
cabins are spread
through the woods,
providing more of a
wilderness setting.
Breakfast, lunch, and
dinner are served daily
at the main lodge,
although
you can pack a lunch in
the morning to take on
an excursion, if you
prefer. Choose your
activities each day.
Easy, moderate, and
strenuous guided hikes
are offered, as well as
unguided mountain
biking, fishing, and
gold panning. Each
evening, you have the
opportunity to learn
more about this amazing
national park at a
naturalist presentation.
Many visitors also enjoy
relaxing by the creek
with a book from the
Alaskan library as they
remember a time when
life moved a slower
pace.
