See some of Alaska's
most Amazing
Creatures
The starkly
beautiful Walrus
Islands lie off the
Togiak National
Wildlife Refuge.
Each summer more
than 1,000 walrus
return to the rocky
Bering Sea islands.
In addition to
walrus the marine
sanctuary is home to
sea lions, seals and
migrating gray
whales. More than a
million sea and
shore birds inhabit
the coastline.
Walrus Island is
accessed by charter
vessel equipped with
modern electronics,
full safety gear,
and inflatable shore
boat for beach
landings. The
Captain, a former
commercial fisherman
and extension
professor with
University of
Alaska, is also a
marine safety and
survival instructor
with vast experience
in the North
Pacific. Now, for
the first time,
components are in
place to operate
regular daily
expeditions via
comfortable tour
boat.
