They are famous for their natural beauty, large seal populations, and migrating birds. St. Paul Island (14 miles long) is home to the world's largest fur seal rookeries. ITINERARY
Day 1/Arrival: This morning transfer to
the Anchorage International Airport on own. Depart Anchorage at approx. 12:00H
for the St. Paul - Pribilof Islands; flight duration is about 4 hours. The
orientation and naturalist tours start immediately upon arrival. St. Paul is the
largest of the Aleut communities. The Alaska Native culture is prevalent
throughout the small town. Overnight at the Airport Hotel or similar.
Day 2 +: Today is spent visiting the rookeries and
learning about the tundra and volcanic terrain with local expert guides. Blinds
and viewing areas allow photographers access to seals and sea lions. This is
your best chance to spot the migrating birds that visit the islands. Prior to
dinner, Aleut dancers perform a traditional ceremonial dance. This evening, a
tour of the Russian Orthodox Church and guided nature tours are available for
those who wish to participate. Overnight at Airport Hotel or similar.
Day 3/Departure: This morning is free to explore. In
the afternoon, transfer is provided to the airport for your return flight to
Anchorage. Arrive back in Anchorage at approx. 20:00H. The tour concludes upon
arrival in Anchorage.
