Travel by a floatplane from Juneau to view the majestic bears of Admiralty Island and experience the whales and glaciers of Glacier Bay National Park. This experience in Alaska's Southeast utilizes scheduled flights and day cruises for the best wildlife and glacier viewing opportunities.

Bear viewing tour from Juneau
Bear viewing tour from Juneau From Juneau board a classic Alaska bush plane for an approx. 25 minute flight to Admiralty Island. Your aircraft will land on the water. Once on the beach spend the next approx. 5 hours in bear country. Afterwards flight back to Juneau. Tour length with orientation and flight time is 8 hours.
Overnight in Juneau.

Juneau to Gustavus, Whale Watching Cruise
Juneau to Gustavus, Whale Watching Cruise This morning transfer to airport on own. At about 8:00am depart on a scheduled flight from Juneau to Gustavus. Upon arrival in Gustavus, transfer to the inn is provided. Lunch at the Gustavus Inn. In the afternoon enjoy a 3.5 hour whale watching cruise from Gustavus into Icy Strait. These are the summer feeding grounds for humpback whales. Roundtrip transfers in Gustavus to and from the cruise are included.

Glacier Bay National Park
Glacier Bay National Park Early this morning transfer to the Glacier Bay Lodge, from where the full day cruise into Glacier Bay National Park departs. During this cruise you might also have a chance to see black or brown bears (sightings cannot be guaranteed). Lunch is included on the cruise.
Overnight at the Gustavus Inn (B, L, D)

Gustavus to Juneau
Gustavus to Juneau After breakfast transfer to Gustavus Airport to meet scheduled flight to Juneau. (Departing Gustavus about mid-morning.) Tour ends upon arrival in Juneau.
Breakfast is included today.

  • Flights from/to Gustavus: Flight times to Gustavus on day 4 and from Gustavus on day 6 are subject to change! Also, the flights can be in small planes with luggage weight restrictions of 70 pounds total per person (no piece of luggage over 50 pounds, no oversize bags); soft luggage / cases preferred.

  • ** Due to availability, we reserve the right to change the order of the services and/or excursions.

  • Important physical requirements for bear viewing tour from Juneau: Participants must be able to get in and out of the floatplane; walk to the end of a narrow float, stepping down into knee high water; wading to shore without any kind of railing or support (short distance). On shore, clients may be on their feet for as much as 2 hours at a time, and must be capable of walking in high grass, uneven, muddy and watery ground (in knee high rubber boots or good waterproof hiking boots ). Clients will be exposed to the weather for the duration of the ground portion of the tour in areas with no shelters of any kind, even on days that may be cool, wet and windy. No restroom facilities available.

  • Special Cancellation Terms for this program
    Cancellations after confirmation up to 121 days prior: 15% fee
    Cancellations 120 - 91 days prior: 25% fee
    Cancellation 90 - 36 days prior: 50%
    Cancellations 35 - 0 days prior: 100% fee
    If the Admiralty Bear Viewing tour is cancelled due to weather, $75 per person permit fee is non-refundable.
