Accommodations: Standard rooms are located in the main lodge which has a total of 6 standard guest rooms that share 2 central bathrooms. (Standard rooms do not have private bath).
Jacuzzi rooms are located in the Aurora Lodge, which is separate from the main lodge. Jacuzzi rooms have private bathroom with the Jacuzzi tub in the bedroom.

Bettles Lodge is a beautiful, rustic yet modern facility built originally in 1948, located 35 miles north the Arctic Circle easily reached form Fairbanks. The lodge has been renovated to provide guests fully modern amenities and a base to explore Alaska's Arctic. In the lodge common area, relax after a day of outdoor activities, watch TV, converse with other guests about the day's activities or visit the second floor game room, complete with a billiard table. At Bettles Lodge you will find a relaxing setting and access to the vast Arctic wilderness surrounding you!

SUMMER ITINERARY


Day 01/Arrival:  Enjoy a one-hour scenic flight from Fairbanks crossing the mighty Yukon River and Arctic Circle. Good views of the Brooks Range and Gates of the Arctic National Park. After dinner, take advantage of long daylight hours and enjoy a walk through the forest. Dinner and overnight at Bettles Lodge.

Day 02/Village Tour:  Tour the Native Village of Evansville and meet local Inupiaq Eskimos. You will also have time to participate in optional activities (not included) such as rafting on the Koyukuk River or flightseeing tours of Gates of the Arctic and Kobuk National Parks. All meals included today.

Day 03/Departure:  After breakfast, depart on your return flight to Fairbanks. Tour concludes upon your arrival in Fairbanks.
 
A night in Fairbanks before and after this tour is required.


WINTER ITINERARY


Day 1/Arrival: Mid-morning, enjoy a one-hour scenic flight from Fairbanks, crossing the mighty Yukon River and the Arctic Circle, with possible views of the Brooks Range and Gates of the Arctic National Park. Beginning with lunch today, all meals are included at Bettles Lodge. This afternoon is free to explore your tranquil surroundings by snowshoe or cross-country ski. After dinner, step outside and enjoy the Northern Lights or watch from the Aurora viewing cabin. Overnight at Bettles Lodge.

Day 2/Village Tour: Today, enjoy a 1 ½ - 2 hour guided tour of the Bettles area, including the Inupiaq Eskimo village of Evansville. You will also have time to participate in optional activities, such as taking an exhilarating ride on a snowmobile, touring the Arctic by dog sled, or flying through the Brooks Range in a ski-plane. If needed, warm clothing is available at the lodge. Stay up tonight for another opportunity to see the Northern Lights dance across the dark sky. Overnight at Bettles Lodge.

Day 3/Departure: Breakfast is your last included meal at the lodge. Return to Fairbanks later this morning by small plane. Tour concludes upon your arrival in Fairbanks.

A night in Fairbanks before and after this tour is required.

Aurora viewing is dependent on weather and aurora activity!

OPTIONAL FLIGHTSEEING TOUR


Flightseeing tour to the Gates of Arctic National Parl and Kobuk Valley: 

For an additional cost, you can add a fantastic flightseeing tour to your lodge stay!  The optional flightseeing tour is listed when you book the lodge stay or contact us.

Gates of Arctic National Park is the northernmost national park in the US. The entirety of the park lies north of the Arctic Circle. The park is the second largest at 13,238 mi² (39,460 km²), about the same size as Switzerland. The park consists primarily of portions of the Brooks Range mountains. There are no established roads inside the park. Kobuk Valley National Park is in northwestern Alaska, approx. 25 miles (40 km) north of the Arctic Circle. It is noted for the Great Kobuk Sand Dunes and caribou migration routes. No roads lead to the park and there are no designated trails or roads in the park. The park is 1,669,813 acres (6,757.49 km2).

Information about the accommodation:

Standard Rooms (6 total, located in the main lodge) share 2 central bathrooms. In the main lodge there also is a common area where guests can relax, watch TV or converse with other lodge guests. The main lodge is a beautiful, rustic, yet modernized building, built in 1948. It was brought up to date to provide guests full amenities.

Jacuzzi Rooms are located in a separate building, the Aurora Lodge. Jacuzzi rooms have private bathrooms. The Jacuzzi is in the bedroom.
