Arrive into Anchorage on own. Pick
up your rental car at the airport.
The entire day is at your leisure.

Day 2: Wednesday,
March 4,
2009
First thing this morning, drive to Seward (127 miles; plan
3 hours driving time without stops).
At 11:30am, depart on a 2.5 hour
glacier and wildlife cruise of
Resurrection Bay. Watch for marine
wildlife as you cruise past Bear
Glacier, a massive river of ice
flowing from Harding Ice Field
located in Kenai Fjords National
Park. Hot lunch served on cruise.
The evening is at your leisure.
Overnight Seward.
Day 3: Thursday, March 5, 2009
The day is at your leisure in Seward.
We recommend a dog sled ride or
visit to the Alaska SeaLife Center,
a state-of-the-art marine science
facility and aquarium (not
included). The afternoon is at your
leisure to return to Anchorage.
Along the way, stop at the Alaska
Wildlife Conservation Center, where
you can see moose, bears, musk oxen,
and other local wildlife up close
(admission included). This evening,
reservations have been made for
the Iditarod mushers banquet. Here
you will have a chance to meet the
mushers
and
feel the excitement as the race
starting positions are chosen!

Day 4: Friday,
March 6, 2009

The
day is at your leisure to experience the
Fur Rendezvous
Winter Carnival, one of
the most unusual winter festivals in
the world. Unique exhibits and
activities abound throughout the
city.
We also recommend a visit to Girdwood,
located 45 minutes south of
Anchorage, for skiing at the Alyeska
Resort,
snowshoeing and
ice climbing (not
included). Overnight Anchorage.
Day 5: Saturday, March 7, 2009
Race day! Watch
the ceremonial start of the race in
downtown Anchorage.
After watching the mushers and their
sled dog teams take off, drive to
other locations in the surrounding
area for up-close viewing of the
teams as they travel along Anchorage
trails in route to their
first check-point in Eagle
River. You may also want to add a
flightseeing
tour, horse-drawn sleigh ride or
snowshoeing tour (not
included). Overnight Anchorage.
Day 6: Sunday,
March 8, 2009
Today, drive
to Wasilla for the race restart.
Experience the excitement as the
mushers exit urban Alaska to the
countryside for the great wilderness
trek to Nome. This evening, return
your rental in Anchorage. Overnight
Anchorage.
Day 7: Monday, March 9, 2008
Transfer by hotel courtesy shuttle or
on your own to the airport. Tour
concludes.
