Saturday:  Anchorage to Talkeetna

At approx. 8:30 this morning, you will depart aboard the Alaska Railroad for your journey to Talkeetna. Upon arrival in Talkeetna at approx. 11:40am, you will be met and transferred to your lodging. Talkeetna is the main flight departure point for Mt. McKinley climbers and offers excellent aerial tours to the mountain. You have the afternoon to explore the area or enjoy an optional activity, such as cross country skiing or snow-shoeing (not included in tour price). Tonight, keep your eyes on the sky for potential views of the Northern Lights. Overnight in Talkeetna.

Sunday:  Talkeetna to Anchorage

This morning, enjoy the crisp cool air and possibly a hearty breakfast at the Talkeetna Roadhouse (not included in tour price). After breakfast, enjoy a spectacular 1-hour flight seeing tour of Denali National Park.

This magnificent flight takes you within six miles of Mt. McKinley's summit. As your flight departs Talkeetna, you begin to see how the last ice age has shaped the land. Moments later you enter a world of rugged high mountain peaks and wide glacier filled valleys. Listen as your pilot describes the natural wonders of Denali National Park. See the Sheldon Amphitheater, beautiful Ruth Glacier, and the Great Gorge (the world's deepest - almost 2 miles from top to bottom). This afternoon (approx. 4:30pm), you will board the Alaska Railroad to return to Anchorage. Your tour concludes upon your return to Anchorage at 7:45pm this evening.

Saturday:  Anchorage to Fairbanks

This package is designed for the train enthusiast to experience the full flavor of Alaska's Interior in the winter! Your journey of the interior will begin at approx. 8:15 a.m. this morning from Anchorage. You will travel aboard the Alaska Railroad for approx. 12 hours to Fairbanks, experiencing 356 rail miles. Along the way, you may encounter moose on the tracks and many flag stops. Upon arrival in Fairbanks (approx. 7:45pm), transfer via hotel courtesy shuttle or on own to your hotel. Overnight in Fairbanks.

sAdd an optional Aurora viewing tour tonight (see below for prices)! Your guide will pick you up from the hotel and drive you 30 to 45-minutes outside of Fairbanks to the Aurora Borealis Lodge, a beautiful, spacious Alaskan log building designed specially for viewing the Northern Lights. Located on Cleary Summit 20 miles north of Fairbanks, the lodge is situated away from the city lights that can hinder Aurora viewing. We recommend that you dress warmly for this tour, so you may view the Northern Lights from outdoors. If you become cold, the large, north-facing windows allow for optimal viewing from the warmth of the lodge. Tour time is approximately 4.5 hours total, including transfer time. Hot beverages and roundtrip transportation are included.

Sunday:  Fairbanks to Anchorage

Today we have arranged a full-day city tour of Fairbanks. Your tour includes a visit to the University of Alaska Fairbanks Museum. Here you will be surrounded by the natural and cultural history of Alaska including fossils and Native Alaskan artifacts. Also, you'll discover the science behind the Northern Lights. Other stops include the Large Animal Research Station, Alaska Oil Pipeline viewing station, Fairbanks Visitors Center, and the Alaska House Native Art Gallery. You'll then depart Fairbanks and drive to the town of North Pole. Here you'll visit the world famous Santa Claus House; meet with Kris Kringle and his reindeer. Your tour will conclude with a transfer to the Fairbanks Airport. You will board an evening departure flight back to Anchorage. Tour concludes upon your arrival to Anchorage.
