Yukon Quest Sled Dog Race Route MapCome experience Alaska in winter and enjoy one of the greatest sled dog events in the world! It’s only every second year that the Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race starts in Fairbanks - it’s happening again in February 2008. This epic event has dog teams competing over 1,000 miles (1,600 km) of rough, sometimes hazardous, wilderness terrain between Fairbanks, AK, and Whitehorse in Canada’s Yukon Territory. The race starts on schedule regardless of weather and takes from 10 to 13 days to complete.

Our fully guided small group tour will provide you with some of the best viewing opportunities from Fairbanks. On race day, we will drive close to the trail, offering great views and photo opportunities. Feel the excitement while following the teams as they head towards the mountain passes and distant Yukon River. At the North Pole checkpoint, you will get to see the valiant huskies up-close and in action. As the dog teams head off into the night to tackle the wilds of Alaska’s great interior, our group will return to the fabulous comforts of Chena Hot Springs Resort.

Don’t miss one of Alaska’s top outdoor spectator events – it only happens once every two years, but you’ll have a lifetime of Alaskan winter memories to enjoy!
